League of Legends remains firmly the most important game on PC

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive rises to the first band. Dota 2 suffers from the postponement of The International 2020.

The most influential game on PC remains League of Legends. According to The Esports Observer, in fact, even in the third quarter of 2020 the Riot Games game has been able to establish itself as an export par excellence, thanks to the constant popularity on Twitch.

FIRST BAND –The resistance to the pandemic, which forced the cancellation of many live events, has consolidated the position of League of Legends, which maintains a very high active player base every month (and double that of the runner-up, Valorant). The third quarter also marked the growth of Call of Duty, whose Modern Warfare-based league pushed the game to the top tier alongside League of Legends. In particular, despite the cancellation of the live events, the prize pool remained very rich: 5 million dollars, of which 4.6 million offered in the playoffs. The Call of Duty League was won by the Dallas Empire, who beat the Atlanta Faze 5-1 in the final. Popularity on Twitch also contributed to the improvement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: it was the most aired game in the third quarter.

Accanto a Counter-Strike, in seconda fascia troviamo Valorant, Fortnite, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Hearthstone, PUBG e Dota 2.

REYNOR – The third band, again according to The Esports Observer, is made up of Rainbow Six: Siege, Rocket League, Teamfight Tactics, World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2. The latter has withstood the adverse situation thanks to tournaments such as the DreamHack Masters 2020, who elected the young Riccardo “Reynor” Romiti the winner . Rainbow Six: Siege, on the other hand, was orphaned by major events in consideration of the cancellation of the Six August Major, which was supposed to be held in the United States.
