The video game developer Epic Games , creator of the popular video game Fortnite , has reached a valuation of 17.3 billion dollars in a financing round of 1.78 billion dollars in which investors such as Sony or BlackRock have participated , as reported by the company this Thursday it’s a statement.
The round consists of a $ 250 million investment by Sony announced in early July. The rest of the funds have been contributed by funds managed by BlackRock , Fidelity and T. Rowe Price , as well as by the venture capital fund Lightspeed Venture Partners and the pension fund of the teachers of Ontario, Canada.
The round was also attended by billionaire and investor David Tepper , as well as KKR and Smash Ventures , which already had a stake in the developer studio.
Epic Games has underlined that, after this round of financing, the company continues to hold a single class of shares and that it remains controlled by its founder and CEO, Tim Sweeney.
